Watts Gives Uplifting Speech to Jackson-Feild Homes Girl's

Jarratt, VA – Delegate Vivian Watts, D. 39th District, visited the Gwaltney School on the Walnut Grove Campus of Jackson-Feild Homes this week to give a motivational speech for 40 residents.  Delegate Watts spoke to the girls in a powerful message encouraging them not to let their past victimizations keep them from excelling in the future.  Watts stressed that she sees her role as a delegate as being a representative for all people, but encouraged the girls to speak to their local representatives.  Typically reserved girls were so moved by her speech that they waited in line to personally thank her for visiting.

The visit is part of the Legislators Series on the campus this fall organized by Board of Trustees member Sallie Wanchisn.   “The Campaign for Awareness is near and dear to my heart.  I love Jackson-Feild Homes and want to encourage our Legislators to learn more about residential treatment options for at-risk girls in the Commonwealth.  I also want our girls to hear uplifting words of encouragement from elected leaders from across the state challenging them to grasp their futures and make them their own.” Said Ms. Wanchisn
