We are pleased to offer the first in a series of Advanced Clinical Skills trainings. The training is part of Jackson-Feild Homes’ community outreach to our social workers and other professionals serving children with challenging behaviors.  Dr. Robert O. Friedel, M.D., our  psychiatrist will be presenting a seminar on “The High Prevalence and Effective Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder in Teenagers with Significant Behavioral Problems”.   The training will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at John Tyler Community College, Chester Campus.  Continued Education Units are pending.  For reasons unknown, the disorder occurrence is three times more common in women than men and is generally diagnosed in the teenage years to early twenties.
Dr. Friedel is considered an expert in the treatment of this difficult disorder.  Dr. Friedel is a Distinguished Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  He founded Borderline Personality Disorder Clinics at University of Alabama, Birmingham and at Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University Clinic.   In 2007, Dr. Friedel was named the Psychiatrist of the Year by the National Alliance on Mental Illness and is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare and in Who’s Who in America.
