Jackson-Field Homes established Gwaltney High School as an educational institution for the purpose of providing a first class education for its residents.  The school is licensed by the State of Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities.  The school complies with Department of Education Accreditation Standards and the Code Of Virginia requirements for the operation of secondary Schools. 
 
Gwaltney School offers all courses leading to the:
  • Standard Diploma,
  • Advanced Studies Diploma,
  • Modified Standard Diploma, and
  • General Educational Development Certificate. 

College Courses are offered on nearby campuses and through internet and distance learning arrangements.  Marketable job skill courses in horticulture, food occupations, and certified nursing assistance are offered on campus with other options available off campus.  Opportunities to pursue special interest courses are available and encouraged.
